Game 1 Indians Recap: Thursday July 12: 7-4 WIN: Sevy vs. Kluber Pitching Battle? Ehh, not so much.

Very interesting start to the final series before the All-Star Break.

We’re facing off against a team we know all too well. Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn’s Cleveland Indians. AKA the team’s who hearts and souls we crushed last year, coming back from being down 2-0 in the ALDS.

It’s a good thing that Rick wasn’t pitching last night, though – that, coupled with the fact that he is a fictitious character. Shh, don’t tell anyone.

Instead, we got to face off against Corey “The Fraud” Kluber…why is he a fraud? Because facing him last night was NO PROBLEM.

I thought this guy was supposed to be a Cy Young candidate? Our offense was working just fine against this dude.

But, seriously, he is a great pitcher. It was great to see us hit him, though.

Unfortunately, the Cleveland offense had similar luck versus our boy, Cy Young Sevy.

Sevy vs. Kluber: This was the type of game that I believed would end 2-1 or 1-0. I thought that both of these pitchers, arguably the best in the League, would go 7 innings each. But, wow, I was wrong. Both of them had very uncharacteristic outings. Sevy’s statline was:

5 IP, 9 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, 1 K. ONE STRIKEOUT?!

Who are you and what have you done with Luis Severino?! Our pride and joy.

I was very tempted to drop all my responsibilites, in order to plaster fliers all throughout New York City

LOST:  CY Young candidate from the New York Yankees. From the Dominican Republic. Luis Severino. Answers to Sevy. 6 foot 2, 24 years old. Has a smile that lights up a room. Also used to love doing finger guns. But seriously, his smile makes every other smile pale in comparison. If found, call Johnny Pinstripes.

See! I had these posters already written and I was prepared to start searching for Sevy! I restrained myself, because I believe in my heart that the normal “Cy Young Sevy” will return after the All Star Break.

His first half stat line is:

14-2 record. 2.31 ERA. 144 strikeouts. 1.01 WHIP. Fucking amazing.

Also, I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist, but Sevy is usually the king of swings and misses. However, the Indians did not swing and miss at ONE pitch from our boy last night. NOT ONE. Hmm

That is the first time this happened for Sevy ALL YEAR. HMMM. Very interesting.

Stealing another team’s signs is definitely something that can be done. I’m not implying anything though! Of course not! Just saying…

Let’s get to the action! Very intersting and back and forth game.

Definitely had a playoff vibe to it. Thankfully though, we did not have to deal with any fucking Cleveland gnats.

Fuck you, gnats.

The Indians got on the board in the first, with a RBI single and then a solo shot. To be completely honest, I was worried that 2 runs might be a tough comeback to make against Kluber…

Fortunately, our old pal, Brett, had other ideas…

GARDY PARTY LET’S GO! 2 RUN BLAST.

What a shot from the most under appreciated Yankee in recent memory. I appreciate you though, Gardy. Don’t forget that.

Fucking Cleveland got the lead back in the next inning, but then our Knight had an answer…

DIDIIIIII

Just like two times in Game 5 of last year’s ALDS, Didi murked Kluber again. He has his number more than an old Italian grandma clutching her number #33 at the grocery store’s meat counter, ready to elbow anybody who gets in her way. She’s gotta cook some meatballs, ASAP.

Greggy continued his trend of destroying every single baseball within his reach, crushing a deep double – should have been a homer…oh well. 4-3 lead!

I was hoping that Sevy would hold this lead, leave the game in the 6th or 7th, and get his 15th win. Unfortunately, this was wishful thinking. Jose Ramirez knocked a dinger off Sevy and we were tied again. Fuck.

Talk about a see-saw game.

Warren and D-Rob pitched shutout 6th and 7th innings, respectively, as we headed to the 8th. Kluber was still in. Fuck you, Corey.

A lead-off walk to Didi and a HUGE RBI double by Hicksy sent him packing!

HICKSY! There we go, taking the lead back! Kluber’s day was done and Greg added a sac fly to score Hicksy. 6-4

Dellin came into the 8th and had a nice “Old Dellin” performance. By the way, it is a goddamn embarrassment that Dellin is not in the All Star Game. He deserved it. Bullshit.

Next inning, just to add salt into the wounds of Cleveland, Gardy hit ANOTHER homer! GARDYYY! Amazing.

And I love making things worse for the Indians. Ya like that, Cleveland? First cry-baby LeBron leaves you guys, then we keep piling on some more runs against you!

Tough month for Cleveland…

Chappie came in and had a nice 1-2-3, un-Classic Chappie performance. And that’s a win!

Let’s keep this momentum heading into tonight’s game, with Domingo on the mound.
LET’S WIN

LET’S GO YANKS
